Hope this helps anyone.Įdit: Added in part about crossover in HT with first comparisonĮdit:2 Also, one more thing to note on the bass. Nothing objective, professional or scientific about my review. So I wanted to make sure I added this into the pile for anyone searching for comparisons between these popular speakers in the future. But I searched this sub constantly in my research. I will update this thread in about 15 days. More listening to come but these 3030i’s may be the end game for me. The only song it kind of muddied up was Brighton Rock - Queen but the source quality could certainly be better. Fast, controlled, punchy and almost never muddies the sound. I really love the Elacs and they may still have a tiny bit more detail but the positives of the 3030i are plentiful. It retains the depth, soundstage, speaker seperation of the Elac while being a meatier yet insanely pleasing sound. It takes the sound of the Elacs and improves on it almost. I decided on the Q Acoustics 3030i and am very glad for that. I decided one more speaker should be introduced into the picture. Well….as an impulse fueled by my fascination and pure fun I’ve been having doing this. Was torn between them and Elac for my desktop but the smaller soundstage and smaller seperation of instruments on the KEF (in comparison) led me to keep the Elac. I returned the KEFs but I really loved them. Versatile maybe if you have the right amp too, but best in an HT I think and that’s where I have them now. They are best suited for a home theater system, where the crossover can be set to 90+ (not at the sub), imo. The emotivas were clear and detailed but lacked on the bass side of things. It may have had to do with the Elacs incredible ability to be positioned pretty much anywhere and never loses fidelity. Not to say the KEF and Emotiva weren’t any of those things, they were, the Elacs just did it better imo. They were also a bit more detailed which were attributes I really care about. The Elacs had a larger more transparent soundstage. The end result for me was keeping the Elacs. KEFq150 vs Emotiva B1+ vs Elac Debut B6.2 Not ideal but all speakers have been propped up by 2 inches of isolation foam and are away from wall. They were subjectively listened to for a few weeks in my real time setup, a big 72x72 L Desk. Powered by a Yamaha AS301/source Spotify. I want to quickly sum up my previous listening review - I put up a post less then a month ago regarding my initial impressions of an Elac Debut B6.2 vs KEF q150 vs Emotiva B1+. NO AFFILIATE LINKS, but if you find a great deal on something and want to share use.īefore I mention my initial impressions of the Q and Elacs compared.
